In this video I am sharing 4 types of vitamin C and how you can choose a vitamin C to suit your individual skin. There are 3 concerns I will address: Acne, hyperpigmentation, overall aging (lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, tone, and pigment)….There is a vitamin C that is right for each of those! Choosing the right one can make the biggest difference to your skin!
I have searched for formulas that look good based on their ingredient deck. I HAVE NOT tried every one of these products so you may want to further investigate your options and look at reviews etc. After hours of searching I think I have found the best options for you to look in to. 🙂

After watching I did a little research:
Tomorrow ONLY (Jan 6th) at ULTA you can get 50% OFF Dermadoctor Kakadu-C which is the THD ascorbate…making it only $37 for 1oz! I haven’t used it personally but will definitely be purchasing this tomorrow to try! I have been using the Mad a Hippie you suggested and really like since I have combo acne prone skin 🥰

ULTA also has the Peter Thomas Roth one you mentioned above at $98 (not on sale) with 2 very nice PTR free gifts (full size Potent-C Moisturizer and FirmX Peeling Gel)…this one is online only I think.

Hope this helps! Vitamin C has been a game changer for me!!! xoxo

  2. Hi Penny (Thank you for your videos),

I have a question relating to Vitamin C and Micro needling. I hear people use vitamin C right after micro needling, now I have The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic acid powder that I usually mix with a few drops of The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%..and I also have The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%…can I apply either of those right after micro needling?

And also, after I’m done micro needling, I wash my face with a gentle cleanser and then apply the Vitamin C? Thanks in advance.

  3. Thank you for the info. I have watched several of your vids now and I am very impressed.
I love that you give the science behind your choices. That you do the research.
You present yourself very well, and come across as genuinely wanting to help people make the best choices concerning their skin. Thanks for sharing your knowledge ~

  4. Hey Penny
Charlotte here from the UK , I’m a new subscriber
I took your advice on sodium ascorbyl phosphate for acne prone skin, had probs al my life .. have been using Sunday riley Luna at night which helps greatly but no good if my skin is really irritated ! Been having a very bad flair up last few weeks and nothing has helped , bought the sodium ascorbyl phosphate after watching this. Have been using it for two days only and WOW .. it feels like my skin is literally shouting thank you ! The irritation has almost entirely gone.. .amazing ! I wouldn’t have had any idea there were different topical vitamin Cs u less I’d watched this
Can it be used before Sunday riley Luna ? Or would you recommend one or the other ? X

  5. Hi Penn. It's an honour to subscribe to your channel. You are very kind and amazing for bringing these wealth of information our way. I am 38 years and mother of 2 and just getting into skincare – mainly budget friendly like the ordinary. I bumped into your channel whilst researching the different types of vitamin C l found on the ordinary website. With your clear and concise explanation on this topic, l feel empowered. Massive thank you.

  6. Hi Penny!

Could you please tell me where The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F falls??

Thank you so much! Love your videos and I’m learning so much.

  7. This was so informative! The CE made me break out so I thought Vit C just wasn't for me…but I will definitely be looking into Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. Thank you!!!

  8. I know it’s advised to use vitamin c in the am, but I can’t seem to incorporate it with my sunscreen, primer and foundation. They pill when I use the vitamin c. Is night time an alternative?

  9. Good afternoon Penn….<3 <3 <3 your informative videos… Could you tell me what you think about Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate. It's claim to have 10.5% L-Ascorbic Acid infused with 2% Vit Cg & fragmented Hyaluronic Acid. Its pretty pricey but I have enough points at Ulta to get it for free….But before I do, I wanted to ask what you thought of it.

  10. Hi Penn, would u happen to know the concentration of MAP in the other products you listed? I am mature asian woman wanting to fade age spots on cheeks. Does concentration really matter or is the purity of MAP the key?
Is there a Vit C product that has it all? I need a product that addresses anti aging, melasma, and brightening…help!

Also, what are your thoughts on PCA gel hydroquinone-free?

  11. Just recently became a subscriber. Love your content. Can you tell me your thoughts on the Zo Skin Health Self-Acivating 10% Vitamin C serum? I cannot find the oh listed anywhere.

  12. This was an excellent video Penn. I used to use L ascorbic acid with fairly good results, but when I started tretinoin I couldn't use it anymore (my sensitive skin couldn't cope with both even used seperately). So much info out there only states this is the effective form of vit c, I decided to skip it in favour of the vit a which I really wanted. I don't get spots as I have very dry skin, so I will give the other derivatives a go with confidence they are effective. High strength L ascorbic acid isn't for everyone – it certainly didn't suit my very sensitive/eczema prone skin. This was very user friendly information so thank you and best wishes.

  13. One of the best presentations, if not the best, on this subject tt I hve seen. Thank u for such clear & systematic advice. I m sold ! U ve won a new subbie here 😊

  14. Wow! New subscriber here. Love your videos. Super knowledgeable & relatable. I’m waiting for the skinceuticals CE Feurlic do go on sale. I just purchased the TNS recovery complex. What are your thoughts on that? I read the inky list & I see it has THA-THANKS.
