Let’s go over what’s in plan for today….PRE-WORKOUT.

What is Pre-Workout? It seems like this could be an easy search on google right? Maybe. However you may get a million different recommendations on certain type of Pre-Workouts but all you want to know first is WHAT IS A PRE-WORKOUT? Pre-Workout is a supplement that provides energy, focus, strength, pump, explosiveness, definition, performance, weight management, endurance, recovery and growth etc. etc. We all want to reach our goal when it comes down to physique as long as it promises to get us leaned, or jacked. Well Pre-Workout happens to be that specific product to give us that promise. But the only way to know exactly what Pre-Workouts do is by their ingredients. Know exactly what you are putting into your body every time you take that scoop and drop that mystery powder inside your drink. Let’s go over some pure ingredients, blends, matrixes, compounds, and complex’s that these Pre-Workouts tend to have.

Creatine improves muscle volume, strength and body composition and can be used with cutting or bulking. But again we will go over many other creatines in other reviews to know which one is right for you to take. On to the next ingredient….

Also known as Nitric Oxide booster usually comes in the forms such as L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, Agmatine, and or L-Novaline. The way N.O. boosters work is they relax your blood vessels and stimulate overall bloodflow which will tend to boost or pump your workout. Typically when you see someone who is very vascular it’s because there body has a good overall blood flow and this may help reduce blood clots. Nice right?
BCAA’s
Branch Chain Amino Acids….Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine, 3 out of 20 amino acids. The way BCAA’s work is by metabolizing into your muscles to help provide energy and build new proteins. The beauty of BCAA supplements used during exercises are to reduce fatigue, accelerate recovery, reduce muscle soreness, and improve the use of fat for energy. BCAAs are well known for triggering protein synthesis.
Betaine
Also known as TMG which is short for TRI-METHYL-GLYCINE. This is a molecule that regulates water balance and may reduce “Homocysteine” which is reducing the risk for a heart attack.
NAC aka N-Acetyl L-Cystine
Great for reducing levels of muscle fatigue and improving muscle contraction during exercises.
DMAA (1-3 Dimethylamylamine)
One ingredient that was hot on the market for some time but due to the intensity of it, it didn’t last to ling on the shelves due to not enough research. But so far what has been gathered from this ingredient is that it was a neural stimulant with a structure similar to an ephedrine and adrenaline. Mainly used in fat burners and pre workouts.
Huperzine A
Is a natural herb that is sold separately and also used in most focus formulas. Beneficial mainly for aiding with memory loss and focusing levels.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST…
The secret ingredient….CAFFIENE! As we all know, caffeine has been one of the main secret formulas in preworkouts. Dosages ranging anywhere from 50mg-400mg. Usually a cup of coffee is anywhere from 80mg-95mg. So it’s important to understand where your tolerance is for caffeine. Mild, Moderate, and or Intense?

Simple and easy experiment to demonstrate the iodine with starch reaction!

For this test you will need:
• Two test tubes
• Soluble starch powder
• Iodine solution
• Water
• Dropper
Procedure:
• Put some starch powder into a test tube and fill the test tube with water.
• Mix the starch in the test tube well until the starch dissolves in the water.
• Fill the other test tube with normal water.
• Place both the test tubes in a test tube stand.
• Using a dropper take iodine solution.
• Put some drops in each test tube.
• Observe that the test tube with starch solution turns to purple black color.
• The other test tube with normal water retains the color of iodine i.e orange or yellow.
Explanation:
Starch is a mixture of amylose and amylopectin, which are different forms of glucose/starch.
Amylose in starch is responsible for the formation of a deep blue black color.
Amylase is long polymer chains of glucose units connected by an alpha acetal linkage and looks much like a coiled spring.
However iodine is a potassium iodide reagent and it is not very soluble in water.
So, iodine is prepared by dissolving it in water in an aqueous solution of potassium iodide. This results in a linear tri-iodide ion (I3−) complex in iodine which is soluble.
This tri-iodide ion (I3−) slips into the coil of the starch causing an intense or deep blue-black color.
