Sažetak predavanja doc. dr. sc. Dubravka Novotni, dipl. ing. nutricionizma:

Vitamin B12 (kobalamin) je esencijalan za ljudsko tijelo. Tijelo ga ne sintetizira, a potreban je za tvorbu stanične DNA i brojne funkcije raznih tkiva, osobito živčanog sustava. Jedini prehrambeni izvor vitamina B12 je hrana životinjskog podrijetla (meso, jaja, mlijeko). Stoga je nedostatak vitamina B12 čest kod vegana i vegetarijanaca. Nedostatak vitamina B12 je ozbiljan zdravstveni problem koji može rezultirati megaloblastičnom anemijom, inhibicijom diobe stanica, neurološkim poremećajima, te povećanim rizikom srčanog udara, demencije, depresije, urođenih mana i smrti. Stoga je u višegodišnjem veganstvu potrebno konzumirati obogaćenu hranu i/ili dodatke prehrane. Na ovoj tribini raspravit ćemo o potrebi i načinima obogaćivanja veganske prehrane vitaminom B12.

1. Je li učestalost vitamina B12 veća kod vegana nego ostale populacije?

2. Zašto industrija mesa stavlja dodatke B12 u prehranu životinja iz uzgoja?

3. Je li točno da se 90% dodataka B12 proizvedenih u svijetu koristi za hranjenje uzgojenih životinja?

4. Postoje li dokumentirani zdravstveni rizici nedostatka vitamina B12 u populaciji vegana?

5. Tko treba uzimati dodatke B12 prehrani?

6. Jesu li pojedini dodaci prehrani bolji od drugih i zašto?

7. Je li veganska prehrana prikladna za suvremenog čovjeka?

8. Možemo li u budućnosti očekivati biljnu hranu prirodno obogaćenom vitaminom B12?

9. Je li točno da se B12 može nalaziti u našem tijelu ispod želuca (u tankom i debelom crijevu), a da istovremeno patimo od nedostatka B12?

10. Jesu li vegani žrtve prljave kampanje farmakomafije koja želi prodati svoje proizvode brzorastućoj biljojedskoj populaciji ili postoji stvarna opasnost od nedostatka vitamina B12?

11. Je li točno da se vitamin B12 nalazi samo u unutarnjim organima životinja tzv. “iznutricama” te da ljudi koji jedu odreske, krilca, salame, jaja ili sir nikako ne mogu iz tih namirnica dobiti B12?

12. Ako je jedini izvor B12 hrana životinjskog podrijetla (meso, jaja, mlijeko), zašto je onda čest nedostatak vitamina B12 kod lakto-ovo vegetarijanaca?

13. Može li se vitamin B12 dobiti nekim alternativnim putem, recimo ako se slučajno plivajući u jezeru ili moru nagutamo vode, ili ako jedemo neoprano voće i povrće iz vlastitog organskog vrta, ili ako pijemo mlijeko ljudske žene koja doji, ili prilikom oralnog seksa (pogotovo ako je prije njega bio analni seks), ili ako gutamo spermu, ili ljubljenjem s osobom koja je upravo jela životinje, ili ako se slučajno porežemo pa poližemo vlastitu krv, ili ako slučajno pojedemo crva u trešnji, ili ako jedemo smokve u kojima su umrle ose pa se onda razgradile u njoj itd.?

14. Odakle sirovojelci dobivaju B12?

15. Odakle su tradicionalni vegetarijanci, stari Indijci i Kinezi dobivali B12?

16. Ima li veze teorija prehrane po krvnim grupama s nedostatkom B12?

17. Neki alternativci i duhovnjaci vjeruju da ljudi mogu živjeti samo od Sunčeve svjetlosti (Sunčarenje ili Sungazing), u potpunosti bez hrane i vode. Treba li njima objasniti da je nužno uzimati dodatke B12?

18. Je li točno da su naši preci riješili problem B12 koristeći ljudske fekalije kao gnojivo za usjeve pod nazivom “noćno gnojivo”?

19. Je li točno da u veganskoj prehrani nije problem nedostatak vitamina B12, nego nedostatak kalcija, kako tvrde neki znanstvenici?
